About the role
Nanomox is hiring a senior chemical engineer who will take the engineering lead in the development of the Nanomox OIS Process. The Chemical Engineering Lead will work with the team to scale up and providing technical leadership on upcoming pilot plants. This will entail leading on the translation of the OIS process lab data to plant scales, designing and optimising the process at a plant scale, providing guiding leadership on control & operations, leading with vendor engagement, and supporting the broader team downstream as well as external partners in executing commercial-scale technical projects.
The role will be hybrid with on-site work encouraged when appropriate.

What we are looking for
Essential:
- A BEng/MEng in Chemical Engineering or related engineering fields.
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant industry experience (inorganic material synthesis or equivalent, hydrometallurgy or mining processes).
- A passion for developing technical solutions for challenging problems.
- Demonstrated experience with flow sheeting, engineering, and computational software such as Aspen, AutoCAD, gPROMs, or equivalent suites.
- Evidenced strong practical skills, comfortable with both hands-on work and desk-based tasks.
- Ability to design and critically evaluate PFDs & P&IDs on paper and live plant scales.
- Good understanding of hazard and risk identification and mitigation.
- Strong interpersonal skills, able to both lead and work within teams.
- Broad practical skills in setting up test stands & prototyping
- Demonstrated ability to traverse different domains of knowledge
- Ability to path-find through unknown and ambiguous variable space
- Can articulate a clear vision and strategy for technology development
- A strong communicator both in writing and in speaking (English). You must be able to produce clear written reports, for both high level and technical specialist audiences.
- Able to work independently on a variety of projects and manage their time effectively.
- A high level of self-motivation and the ability to effectively plan, organize work, and be detail oriented.
- Highly professional in all interactions—i.e., punctual, tactful, positive, flexible and cooperative.

Desirable:
- Minimum of 5 years industry experience working with and leading technical teams for large-scale
- Experience designing, running and supporting pilots or commercial plants.
- Experience with engineering supply chain management.
- Basic understanding of fundamental crystallization principles and background industrial chemistry knowledge.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead the design process and vendor engagement for pilot and commercial plants for the OIS process.
- Support project management team in technical delivery of feasibility & pre-FEED-level plant. design and analysis for pilot and commercial systems.
- Conducting data analysis and flow sheeting activities to support key plant design requirements.
- Interfacing with lab team and engineering teams to inform other elements of the OIS process.
- Applying fundamental process scale up knowledge to take ideas and concepts from the lab to the pilot hall through to full scale system design
- Prepare process flow diagrams.
- Prepare heat and material balances.
- Equipment sizing, including equipment process data sheets preparation and validation with vendors.
- Laise with equipment vendors for procurement and installation.
- Perform techno-economic analysis and life cycle analysis.
- Development of internal procedures for process design.
- Participate in process and safety reviews (HAZID, HAZOP).
- Support dissemination activities.
