Job Title: Lab technician

Location: London and/or Middlesbrough (to be defined) 

Salary: Up to £30k p.a. commensurate with experience 

Benefits: Personal Development Budget, Flexible Working, Monthly Pizza Bonus as standard 

Duration: Full time, 12-month full-time contract with the aim to extend (funding permitting) 


About the role 

Nanomox is hiring a full-time laboratory technician with a BSc, MREs or MSc in chemistry (or closely related discipline) to support the R&D lead in the exploration the capabilities of a novel synthetic method, the Oxidative Ionothermal Synthesis (Mater. Adv., 2020,1, 3597-3604) to produce advanced inorganic materials, such as zinc oxide, for a wide spread of applications.  


What we are looking for 

Essential: 

  • A BSc, MSc, MRes or PhD in Chemistry, Materials or a related discipline.  
  • Previous experience in wet chemistry labs. 
  • A strong communicator both in writing and in speaking (English). You will be able to produce clear written reports and effectively communicate with a variety of stakeholders of different backgrounds. 
  • Able to work independently on a variety of projects and manage her or his time effectively. 
  • A high level of self-motivation and the ability to effectively plan and organize work. 
  • Strong research and analytical skills. 
  • Highly professional in all interactions—i.e., punctual, tactful, positive, flexible and cooperative. 
  • Organized and detail minded. 
  • Enthusiastic for the vision, mission, and values of Nanomox. 


Desirable: 

  • Experience with particle characterization via XRF, XRD, SEM, BET, UV-Vis and DLS. 
  • Experience in particle synthesis 
  • Experience with sustainable chemistry 
  • Experience with ionic liquids 
  • Strong understanding of electrochemical principles, techniques, processes and applications. 


Key responsibilities:  

  • Execute experimental work. 
  • Execute risk assessment for experimental work. 
  • Lab management activities. 
  • Preparation of reports.
